Construction Progress

The project has been successfully launched.

The project has got off to a successful start.
The new building for the Tang Saget School in Cambodia is eagerly awaited. An architect is currently planning the structure on the prepared site in consultation with Friedhelm and Birgit. Construction of a modern two- to three-storey building is scheduled to begin next year if possible. The existing school continues to grow every year and new classrooms are urgently needed.

What has been achieved so far:
The plot of land, a former rice field, has been purchased, developed, drained and fenced in.

In the 24/25 school year, 444 pupils attended the school, 241 of whom were girls. In the current 25/26 school year, there are already 551 pupils. The current classrooms can barely accommodate the 30 pupils per class. An earlier school building, which was used as a nursery school, now needs to be repurposed. The new building is therefore urgently needed.

Friedhelm and Birgit will be in Cambodia from the beginning of January to take care of things on site.

The school run by Kakada and his wife Channtou has earned a very good reputation in the region. Parents of pupils already enrolled report on their children’s good English skills – that is the best advertisement. Of course, the fact that all the teachers at this school are particularly committed and motivate the children to come to school happily every day also contributes to this. It is also evident that graduates with degrees from this school have better opportunities on the job market and for their professional advancement. Word is getting around, so the school is constantly receiving new enquiries.

The new building is intended to meet the growing demand, as Kakada estimates that the number of pupils could easily double once the new school building is completed. In the long term, Chinese will also be taught there, as trade relations with China are growing. Friedhelm and Birgit are delighted with the positive response and will do everything they can to ensure that the building plans can be realised soon.
